Day 1, September 28th
We (Kenji & I) took the late afternoon flight from Nagoya to Hong Kong by Cathay Pacific. We arrived at Hong Kong International Airport around 19.30pm, collected our small baggage and got through the immigration.
We got on the city bus from Airport, Terminal 2 to Kowloon. Note : they offer a good price for a return ticket of HKD55 (with a HKD33 for one way fare) and kid pays half price. It took us around 30 minutes to reach Kowloon, where we are going to stay at one of the many hostels along Nathan Road.
After checked in into our accomodation, Kenji felt a little hungry then we decided to wander around the area where it was told that the shops would mostly close around 11.00pm! Surprise, surprise!
Since I was not really familiar with the area, we just chose the easiest place, Mc Donald for a late supper. Kenji asked many questions about some elderly beggars who are sitting at the pavement along the street asking for money. He hardly seen any thing like this in Japan and asked me if it is alright to give them some coins which is fine by me.
We went to bed around 11 something, exhausted and excited for the next day.
Day 2, September 29th
We woke up around 9.00am and had a quick breakfast at (again!) Mc Donald. Then we walked up to Tsim Sha Tsui area where we found Kowloon Park which has the outdoor pool, child playground, ponds fulls of flamingos and ducks, and many features where I found most elderly people enjoy their morning walks or just doing some light Tai Chi (which gained some stares from my little Kenji, because he thought Tai Chi looks like someone is just moving in a really slow motion, haha).
We spent a good 1.5 hours wandering in the park, visited the bird park area, getting lost in the green maze and walked up to the ferry pier through the bridge which connects the park and the other side of the pier area.
Then we walk back to our hostel, stopping along the way popping into sone shops, such as ESPRIT, Bossini and Body Shop with no transaction just browsing.
I found a Malaysian Chinese Restaurant near the intersection of Nathan Rd and Jordan St, where I finally satisfied my hunger with a vegetable curry and rice and sandwiches for Kenji. The price was reasonable and the taste was moderate.
Reunited with Rini and Riche (who flew from Singapore after watching the F1 a day before) by 3 something afternoon and we decided to take our first MTR (Hong Kong subway system) to Mongkok area and Ladies Market.
We visited the ESPRIT outlet and spent quite an amount of time. Ladies! Then we headed to a noodle restaurant and I had a Dumpling Noodle Soup with a side dish of Stir Fried Kwetiaw.
Once the day turned dark, we walked back to Nathan Road and trying to find the Temple Street Market, which is only opens during evening.
